15 - LISTA o INTELIGENTE

LETTERS TO JULIA

Dear Julia, some days ago you wanted to know what I like most in Eugenio and I told you: “I like him to be like he is”.

The reason is, that way, I can be the way I am.

Another of your questions was the meaning the word “politics” has for me, and I answered: “the way of rulling society”.

It´s very remarkable your interest in receiving information.

Yesterday on the tram I took part in two kids´conversation and raised the difference between “clever” and “intelligent”.

            -“It´s similar”, they answered.
-“No, it´s not”, I told them.

Intelligence is inter-binding the best options and being clever is realizing what is happening.

Today, having a walk, I´ve remembered BEING is the essence and EXISTING the existence and I´ve concluded the following:

Dear Julia: “You Are Ready to Be Intelligent”.

14.- EN EL AUTOBÚS

Septiembre 2005

Me sorprendió oírle decir:

A Little girl
They were seated near me and her precise way of talking attracted my attention, with a tune typical of her age, no more than four years old.
She played with him and won the race, breaking air bubbles, (those that protect anything prone to be wrapped).
I was surprised when I heard her say:
“Daddy, I don´t want to go to heaven because, there, I won´t see my friends, or you, or mum”.
He knew how to come through unscathed and answered:
“From above you can see everything, you can ever fly like a bird”.
She got more and more enthusiastic and, with a conviction that made heaven jealous, she exclaimed:
“God is the best!”.
Her father played along with her:
He´s so good to put a guardian angel to take care of each one of us”.
And he put examples of past danger, when she damaged less for being protected.
That was it!, (she whispered), and fast, as if she had wings, she remembered that day, when he stepped on her and there was no injury, despite her smallest foot toe had been under his steamroller-shoe.
“ How cute is having a guardian angel!”.
She exclaimed, full with joy.
(I didn´t see her father´s expression, but I´m sure he was smiling).
When I thought this lively conversation was over, she surprised all of us:
“Daddy, who is God´s guardian angel?”
There was no doubt in the answer: fast whispering, he told her:
“You, my daughter, you are that angel”.
I got out of the bus. The morning was warm and there was a strange silence. It was true, where was God going to be better than in that good-natured question?.
Said it all, I didn´t think the game was over.
Who will ask God to be able to deal with the responsibility that falls to him again, for her?.

12.- E.T - MI CASA

Cartas a Miguel Ángel.

MY HOME (18)

My home is not a collective place to come back to. Your home is your inwardly.
Coming back home means you are ready to know yourself, to know the way you are, what kindness and limits you´ve got.
When you´re involved in difficult situations, appart from accepting the hospitality you can be offered by your family and friends, try to come back to you, come back “home”.
That knowledge will give you courage to assume your mistakes and let the others face theirs.
Dear friend. Remember hospitality is always reciprocal, friendship takes us to that centre of happiness where we find our balance.
You can lose rhythm, but never the wish of recovering it.
                        With love,
                                                           María
